Nutrient Management Farmer Education

Learn to write your own nutrient management plan using SnapPlus Version 3. This two‑day training provides the knowledge and hands‑on practice needed to develop a complete nutrient management plan for your farming operation. Attendees must attend both days if they have never written their own nutrient management plan in the past.

Day 1 – January 21
Covers the fundamentals of nutrient management, including soil testing, manure analysis, application timing, and conservation considerations.

Day 2 – January 28
Walks through creating a nutrient management plan from start to finish using SnapPlus Version 3.
Farmers who have already received training on basic nutrient management concepts may register for Day 2 only to learn the new SnapPlus version 3.

Cost & Incentives
Training is free for Dane County farmers.
Farmers who complete and submit a nutrient management plan may be eligible for:

• Up to $700 for attending both days, and completing and submitting a nutrient management plan.
• $350 for attending Day 2 only, and completing and submitting a nutrient management plan.
• Additional cost‑share funding at $10/acre/year for four years for first‑time nutrient management plan submittals is available (to help offset soil sampling, manure analysis, and plan development)

Schedule & Amenities
Training runs from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM each day.
Lunch, snacks, and beverages are provided.
